Space Awareness Walk

Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR,        

                  ISRO – Sriharikota

          We are happy to inform you that Satish Dhawan Space Centre, (SDSC) ISRO, Sriharikota and Mahatma Schools, Madurai  have planned to                commemorate   ‘The World Space Week’ in Madurai on 5th and 6th October 2017 [Thursday & Friday].  In connection with this, we are planning to organise Space Awareness Walk programme and a few competitions for school and      college students in the city. 

          Space Awareness Walk  : It is a ‘walk’ to create public awareness about ‘space’ related facts.  A maximum of 25 students are requested to participate from every school / college in the walk.  The name list should be attached with the registration forms for competition.  NSS and NCC students can participate.

         

The following competitions are to be held on the days of exhibition.

VI to X std 

*        Space  Posters competition: Space related posters drawn on A1 size sheets  are to be brought to the venue for display.  (October 5th and 6th).

IX  to XII std 

*        Quiz competition :  Maximum of 4 students per school (individual) can           participate.  Topics : General Science, Mathematics , Astronomy, Space Science (History on Space to latest version)  - Competition on 5th October.

*        Elocution competition : The topics will be announced on 5th October.  The topics will be messaged to the contact person of each school on the same day.  On 6th October, the competition will he held.

*        Space models competition :  Models related to space activities shall be brought to the venue for the display for two days.  [5th & 6th October]  Maximum 2 entries per           school.  [Each entry can have two students and a teacher to represent].

*        Essay competition : Topic : Exploring New Worlds in Space.  Essay not exceeding four A4 size pages in Tamil / English are welcome. A maximum      two entries per school.

          Besides these competitions, students also will have the opportunity to see the static models to be displayed by ISRO - Sriharikota, Satish Dawan Space Centre.  We invite you all to participate in the competition and witness the space exhibition.

*        Only 100 students should visit the exhibition (not more).

*        Registration for competition should be done before 23rd September as the schools will be closed for I terminal holidays from 23rd September.

*        Registration can be done on or before 23rd September through
