objective of the Department

1. To provide elementary schools in hamlets where there are no schools
2. To provide free and compulsory education for all children of
   age group 6-14.  
3. To eradicate dropouts. 
4. To improve the basic amenities in schools. 
5. To improve and enrich the syllabus. 
6. To improve the quality of education 
7. To eradicate illiteracy
8. To distribute quality textbooks at fair price in time. 
9. To open village libraries where there is a population of 5000
   and above
10. To give importance to vocational training schools. 
11. To encourage health education in schools.
12. To involve the parents in the management of schools to a
    great extent.
